Are the bivvies meant to be used as a stand-alone shelter or along with a sleeping bag?
Our bivvies will work well either used as a stand-alone shelter or as an outer shell over a sleeping bag.
What variables affect the bivvies' temperature ratings?
The bivvies' temperature ratings can depend on many factors, including whether or not you're using it as a stand-alone shelter, and the amount of insulative clothing you're wearing inside the bivvy.
Here's some feedback on temperature rating for the Escape Bivvy from Kyle Peter, a professional adventure racer and one of our sponsored athletes:
"Keep in mind that the Escape Bivvy is a shelter, not an insulating sleeping bag. That being said, I've slept in the Escape Bivvy comfortably in 45F and it typically can lower the temperature rating of a sleeping bag by 15F degrees when used together."
How do I clean my bivvy/blanket?
The best way to clean your bivvy or blanket is to spot clean with soap and water then air dry. Do not use a laundry machine or clothes dryer.
Any plans to build an oversized or 2-person Escape Bivvy?
We hope to have a larger Escape Bivvy available by Fall 2015.
Why does my Emergency Bivvy have holes in the bottom corners?
The Emergency Bivvies are designed with small holes in the bottom corners to increase the burst strength of the bivvy, thus reducing the chance of seam failure. Also, the holes help to release excess condensation that may build up within the bivvy.
