(Littleton, NH) - These are some of the comments Tender Corporation receives each year about its insect bite treatment, After Bite®.


Since its introduction in 1975, After Bite® -- The Itch Eraser™ -- has become North America’s top-selling insect bite treatment, outselling its strongest competitor by more than four to one with international sales still growing. In addition to the U.S., After Bite is currently sold in 22 other countries. After Bite® is effective on all insect bites, including mosquito, black fly, chigger, gnat, fire ant, bee stings, hornet stings, even marine-life stings.


This fan mail only reinforces what Tender Corporation has always known about After Bite’s® effectiveness. Before After Bite® became America’s favorite insect bite treatment, an independently conducted study at the Institute for Applied Pharmaceutical Research in Philadelphia proved its effectiveness. This study’s methodology reflected actual usage conditions by exposing people to mosquito bites, then treating their discomfort with either After Bite® or a placebo.


Rarely does a scientific study report 100 percent effectiveness, but in the case of After Bite®, the report concluded "all subjects who were treated with After Bite® were afforded relief from itching and/or burning without the return of symptoms." The report also concluded that no subject received any irritation as a result of treatment with After Bite®.


Other products marketed as bite remedies use Lidocaine or Benzocaine, which temporarily masks the symptoms, whereas After Bite’s® formula works by neutralizing the bite area so that itching is reduced and the bite area heals more quickly. Lidocaine and Benzocaine can also cause skin irritation. By contrast, After Bite® can be applied without limitation, causes no irritation because of its skin-soothing natural oils, and is safe to be used on anyone over the age of two.


Other imitators like Sting Kill®, Bite Aid®, Bite Relief® and Skeeter Stik® also use ingredients that can cause skin irritations. These products carry warnings that advise you to use less than four times a day, whereas After Bite® can be applied repeatedly without concern.


After Bite® is deceptively simple. Its ammonia hydroxide and natural oil solution is packaged in an easy to use pen-like vial (MSRP$3.49) and NEW for 2007 individually foil-wrapped wipes (MSRP$1.99 for 9 pc; MSRP$.99 for 3 pc), which offer added convenience and application control. The effectiveness of After Bite® can be credited to the ammonia hydroxide, which has long been recognized in scientific literature and used as a home remedy for insect bites. It works by neutralizing the allergens found in mosquito saliva – the real cause of all the misery associated with insect bites.
