Tender Corp.’s QuikClot® Nosebleed™ Offers Fast, Effective Treatment of Nasal Bleeding May 1, 2009 - LITTLETON, NH LITTLETON, NH (MAY 1ST, 2009) -- Tender Corp., a leading developer of topical cream and first aid products designed to enhance consumers’ lives, today announced the release of QuickClot® Nosebleed™ -- a hemostatic product that stops nosebleeds fast. The FDA-approved QuikClot® NoseBleed™ consists of gauze packing impregnated with a specially formulated mineral substance, called Kaolin, which activates factors in blood to promote rapid blood coagulation. The easy-to-apply packing is rolled or folded to fit into an affected nostril. Once inserted and pressure is applied, QuikClot® Nosebleed will stop the bleeding in five minutes. By contrast, competing nosebleed products, which are ostensibly cotton pads or packing, take between 10 minutes to 30 minutes to work. These products try to stop the bleeding by absorbing the blood, making it likely for bleeds to re-occur. NASAL BLEEDING A COMMON AILMENT, ESPECIALLY DURING WINTER There are various causes of nosebleeds, but the most common factors include trauma to the nose and exposure to cold, dry climates. Most nosebleeds occur during winter months, when the air is cold and dry -- conditions that make the nasal membranes more susceptible to cracking and drying out. Every year in the United States, there are close to 400 million nosebleeds. While many nosebleeds are minor, about 515,000 result in visits to hospital emergency departments1 -- stressful, time consuming and expensive incidents. While anyone can suffer a nosebleed, they most frequently strike two age groups -- children under ten years old and seniors. “With QuikClot Nosebleed, Tender Corp. is helping make a difference for parents and caregivers who have to treat their children and loved ones who suffer from this most common of ailments,” said Tender CEO Jason Cartwright. He continued, “Whether the bleeding is the result of an accident, sports injury or if someone is just predisposed to the condition, QuickClot Nosebleed will provide the fastest and safest solution to stopping serious nosebleeds.” Safe for all ages, QuikClot® Nosebleed™ consists of five sterile applications and retails for MSRP$11.49. The product is currently available at Kroger Foods and Fred Meyer, among other leading food, drug and mass retail outlets. QuikClot® Nosebleed™ was developed by Z-Medica Corp., which produces a variety of products designed to stop traumatic bleeding, which it sells to the military, law enforcement, hospital and emergency medical services markets. In addition to Nosebleed™, Tender Corp. maintains the exclusive distribution rights to Z-Medica’s QuikClot® Travel, QuikClot® Home, QuikClot® Sport and QuikClot® Sport Silver for food, drug, mass, and sporting goods retail channels.
