Natrapel® 8 hour Fact Sheet

  1. Natrapel® 8 hour contains 20% of the active ingredient Picaridin.  Also known as KBR3023, it has been in worldwide use since 1998 and      is one of the best selling active ingredients in repellents sold in Europe and Australia.
  2. In 2000, the World Health Organization proclaimed that, due to its safety and effectiveness, Picaridin was their recommended product for repelling Malaria-carrying mosquitoes. They noted that under some circumstances it was even more effective than DEET.
  3. In 2005, the CDC recognized Picaridin as one of only three active ingredients (the others are DEET and Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus) that effectively repel mosquitoes. The CDC went on to conclude “evidence indicates that [Picaridin] works very well [at repelling insects], comparable to DEET products of similar concentration.”.
  4. Mild smelling and non-greasy, Picaridin is gentle on sensitive skin.
  5. Natrapel 8 hour’s Picaridin-based formula won’t ruin fishing line, camera lenses or other important plastics like DEET can.
